How does a Scientist work?

Scientists are interested in the world around us. We take special notice of things we are curious about, and try to understand how they work. We begin by analyzing them. This means we break up any problem we wish to solve into a larger number of smaller problems. In other words, we break up a puzzle into small pieces. Then we try to solve each of the smaller problems, and use these solutions to see if we can put the whole puzzle together. To solve pieces of a puzzle, we use tools which help us. These tools help us measure things and are called quantitative. We can use a ruler to tell us how long something is. We use a scale to see how much something weighs. Each of these measurements help us to understand the pieces of the puzzle. Sometimes we use a computer to put the pieces together to solve the original problem.

There is not a single way to do scientific work. Some scientific disciplines focus on observation while others concentrate on experimentation. However, scientists approach an investigation in the same way by following a procedure known as the scientific method.

What is Chemistry?

Our bodies are made of chemicals. When we eat, breathe, or just sit down, chemical reactions are taking place. In fact all matter is made from some kind of chemicals so chemistry is the study of everything.

What is Physics?

PHYSICS
Physics is a branch of science that studies matter and its motion as well as how it interacts with energy and forces. Physics is a huge subject. There are many branches of physics including electricity, astronomy, motion, waves, sound, and light. Physics studies the smallest elementary particles and atoms as well as the largest stars and the universe. Scientists who are experts in physics are called physicists. Physicists use the scientific method to test hypotheses and develop scientific laws. Some of the most famous scientists in history are considered physicists such as Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein.
